We fit a wide variety of contact lenses. Everything from soft, toric, bifocal, tinted, gas-permeable, and specialty lenses, Dr. Newman has had many years of experience in all these modalities.

A good contact lens fit starts with a thorough eye exam to ensure you have the most up-to-date prescription and rule out any pre-existing conditions that could interfere with successful contact lens wear. Based on your prescription, your visual demands, and your lifestyle, Dr. Newman will go over your options and recommend the ideal lens.

In many cases you will actually get to take a pair home! We will instruct you in the care and handling of lenses, teach you how to apply and remove them (if you are new to contact lenses), and how to care for them.

We will see you back after an week or so, to check the fit of the lenses (we don't want to see them too tight or too loose), the health of the eye, your vision, your experience, and comfort.

Once we know that everything is doing well we can order a supply of lenses (annual supplies are the most cost-effective).

Bifocal / Multifocal

These lenses can provide functional distance and near vision for those needing correction at far and up close.

Gas Permeable (GP) Contact Lenses

The advantages of a rigid lens is crisper vision, fewer deposits, and longer lifespan. There are numerous instances in which these are the only way to make a significant improvement in visual acuity.

Contact Lenses for the “Hard-to-Fit” Patient

High astigmatism, presbyopia, keratoconus, or dry eyes, does not necessarily rule out  contact lens wear. With time and patience, these conditions can be adjusted for, in many cases, and successful contact lens wear can be achieved.

Toric Contact Lenses for Astigmatism

While it was once true, having a lot of astigmatism does not automatically rule out  contact lens wear.

New lens design and technology has allowed many more people who have "football-shaped" eyes to successfully wear contact lens.
